Target Group

The module is for both university college students in the Faculty of Education (Teacher Education or Social Education) and/or Social Sciences (Social Work, Public Administration), as well as university students (B.A.), especially in humanities.

In order to participate, students must speak English at an advanced level (C level and above).

How to apply

Purpose of The Module

During the module 21st century skills the students will have the opportunity to learn about, discuss and work with skills they will need both in their future professional life and as citizens in the 21st century. The module will introduce the students to learning skills, literacy skills and life skills.

The module begins with lectures and debate about the political and societal background of today’s focus on 21st century skills.

During the module the students will work with problem solving and innovation, creativity and entrepreneurship.

Intercultural competence will also be discussed as part of 21st century skills.

General Information

Work Load

10 ECTS.

Teaching Methods

The teacher will present lectures but the main focus is on the student’s personal involvement. You will work both individually, in pairs, and groups, depending on the situation.  The tasks will lead to both written and oral communication.

The student must present products and participate in observing and interviewing “in the field” in connection with projects. Throughout the module the teacher is available as a counsellor in understanding the content and making the assignments.

Conditions

In order to complete the module and obtain a certificate, you have to:

  • Complete an oral presentation of a project substantiated both practically and theoretically
  • Complete a written assignment about a topic chosen by the student backed up by theory and including a practical example.

At least one of the tasks should be made as a group or a pair work.

  • Complete an oral exam based on a synopsis about a relevant self-chosen topic within the frame of the module.

Examination

The exam will be an oral exam based on a written synopsis about a relevant self-chosen topic within the frame of the module.

Supplementary exam forms may be agreed upon in advance with the student’s home institution. This written agreement must be attained previous to the start of the course.
