Nursing Programme

Three campuses to choose from in Odense, Vejle and Svendborg.

We hope to welcome you as a student at one of the three campuses that offer the nursing programme: Odense, Svendborg and Vejle.

Each campus has its own personality and academic focus, but the general programme is the same for all campuses. This means that you will be able to combine courses from one or more campuses, the possibilities are many, the choice is yours.

The full Bachelor Programme is taught in Danish, exchange students are very welcome in clinical placements or in one of the theoretical nursing courses taught in English.

The Professional Bachelor Degree in Nursing is a 3½ year programme

The Professional Bachelor Degree in Nursing will qualify you to become a registered nurse (RN) in Denmark and many other countries. You will also be able to continue your studies at postgraduate level.

As a nurse you will work closely with people who are in difficult situations. At University College Lillebælt you will learn the skills needed to fully understand and analyze the life circumstances of your patients. This will be your foundation for making independent decisions and taking immediate action to ensure the well-being of your patients.

The nursing programme is 3½ years and combines theory and practice (clinical teaching). When you complete the programme you will have both theoretical and practical skills in nursing and you will be able to use your understanding of people and the practical nursing skills you have learned to improve the situation of your patients. Throughout the programme focus will be on nursing theory and skills, as well as what it is to be a patient and user of the healthcare system.

During the programme you will acquire knowledge, skills and competencies to be able to

  • Carry out, present information about, and manage nursing
  • Enhance and preserve health, prevent and treat illnesses and conditions, support rehabilitation, and conduct palliative care where there is no cure.
  • Assess, begrunde, and develop care options
  • Work with people of all types of backgrounds
  • Develop nursing practice by using research or participating in developmental work
  • Continue your education

Important aspects of the programme are knowledge of the values, theory, methods, and conditions of nursing. Both Danish and international research will be used during the programme as well as knowledge gain by experience and developmental work.

The programme concludes with a bachelor thesis, where you will describe and analyse a relevant nursing issue of your own choice.
