Free Danish Lessons
Although basically everyone in Denmark speaks English, being able to speak some Danish will benefit you both socially and professionally
You will be able to interact with Danes and understand the Danish way of living, especially during a placement it is of great value to know some Danish. Plus, Danes will be proud that internationals are interested in learning the Danish language.
As an exchange student at UCL in Odense you have the opportunity to receive free Danish lessons during your stay.
The free lessons require that you have a social security number (CPR number) and that you plan on staying in Denmark for a minimum of 3 months.
You receive a social security number by applying for one at the Citizen Service Centre upon your arrival in Denmark.
You will also have the chance to hear more about the Danish lessons during our Orientation Day at the beginning of the semester.
You can read more about the free Danish lessons here: www.laerdansk.dk
Online Danish courses are available. They make it possible to learn some of the language before arriving in Denmark. These web-based courses are targeted at both beginners and those who already have some knowledge of the language. Students can use them to reach a good level of linguistic proficiency.
